During 2-6 August 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy, Pretoria team led by Mr. Paisit Boonparlit, Deputy Chief of Mission/Minister, visited Mauritius to attend the ASEAN Day celebration 2024 at Hualien Social Club. The attendance to this event reflects an important role of Thailand in ASEAN but also contributes to the strengthening of Thailand and Mauritius bilateral relations. At the event, there were around 200 members of ASEAN community joining, of which 40 are Thais. The Thai community presented a Thai traditional dance and Thai food to the guests. Furthermore, the Embassy also provided a mobile consular service to those Thais at the event too.
On the same occasion, the Embassy visited a Thai detainee, met with the Office of the Honorary Consulate-General of Thailand in Port Louis, and the Thai Community residing in Mauritius. Most of them owned restaurant businesses or work as chefs at high end hotels, as well as a Thai business group that invested and owned a luxury hotel in Mauritius.
The Embassy would like to thank the Thai Community and businesses in Mauritius for a warm welcome and kind facilitation throughout the visit.
