NON-IMMIGRANT VISA-ED

Non-Immigrant Visa-ED may be granted to applicants who wish to pursue their full-time education, internship, or any other educational programme in Thailand. This visa may be also granted for applicants who wish to attend a workshop, conference, company training in Thailand. 

Validity: 90 days from the date of visa issuance. Visa holders may contact the Immigration Bureau of Thailand, after entering Thailand, for the extension of stay and re-entry permit.

Required documents for Non-Immigrant Visa-ED applicants are as follows:

1. Visa Application form(s) and photograph(s):two signed and completed Visa Application Forms dated at least 10 working days before the intended date of travel (Visa Application Form), as well as two recent photograph(s) (size 2x2 inch).

2. Passport (valid for no less than 6 months) to be submitted with a copy of the Passport

3. Copy of ID Document other than Passport (for example ID Card or Driving License)

4. Copy of Permanent Residence or other permit (if not a national of the country of residence)

5. Education-related Documents (for Non-Immigrant ED Study):

         5.1 Letter from the school, training institution or company in Thailand (Original) – The letter must be typed in the school/company’s letter head signed by authorized person and a copy of School license or business registration (Copies of documents must be signed by authorized person and affixed the seal).

Important Notes: For informal courses are currently not applicable, e.g. Thai language and cultural training courses, applicants must provide documents which demonstrate that the course meets the minimum requirement as follows: - If the course is no longer than 5 months, the period of study at least 4 days per week, 2 hours per day. - If the course is longer than 5 months, the period of study at least 5 days per week, 5 hours per day.

        5.2 A copy of Transcript of previous studies (if applicable)

6. An Original Police Clearance Certificate (valid for no less than 6 months) (for Non-Immigrant ED Study)

7. Letter of Invitation (signed from the organisers in Thailand) (for Non-Immigrant ED Workshop, Conference, Training)

8. a copy of Thai Business Registration Certificate of the Organisers (for Non-Immigrant ED Workshop, Conference, Training)

9. Letter (signed) confirming employment in your country of residence indicating a reason for traveling to Thailand (for Non-Immigrant ED Workshop, Conference, Training).

10. Evidence of adequate finance- An original bank statement which states bank contact information and equivalent amount of not less than ZAR11,000 per person or ZAR22,000 per family for the last 3 months.  

11. A copy of flight ticket/itinerary.

12. Dependents Parents of students (under 20 years old) who have enrolled for a full-time long-term educational course in Thailand are eligible to apply for Single-Entry Non-Immigrant O-visa (for Non-Immigrant ED Study) or Parents, Spouses, Partners who wish to accompany the applicants of Non-Immigrant ED Workshop, Conference, Training are eligible to apply for Tourist Visa (TR).

         Required documents for the Dependents of Applicants of Non-Immigrant ED Study:

        - the same as required documents for Non-Immigrant ED-visa

        - plus marriage certificate and/or birth certificate (Document issued by Non-Thai Authorities MUST be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of those countries prior to submission)

        and a proof of additional 500,000 Baht (or equivalent) fund in a bank account per parent (for the last 3 months).

        * Not eligible for informal courses, e.g. Thai language or cultural training courses. Dependents are not eligible to work in Thailand.

          Required documents for the Dependents of Applicants of Non-Immigrant ED Workshop, Conference, Training:

         - Please consult the section Tourist visa (TR).

13. Copy of Yellow fever vaccination card – for applicants from or have travelled to yellow fever infected areas. *See: List of countries which require International Health Certificate for Yellow Fever Vaccination

14. Visa Application Fee (not include visa processing company’s fee): Single-Entry Visa: ZAR1,250

15. Other documents:as may be requested by Consular officers in addition to the documents above. Please note that Consular officers reserve the right to require additional documents, or an interview, as deemed necessary, without prior notice.

**The Royal Thai Embassy reserves the right to reject any visa application with insufficient documents or if the reasons given are not fully supported. The visa fee is non-refundable**
