The Royal Thai Embassy organised the Thai Festival in conjunction with the Taste of Cape Town Festival during 11 – 14 April 2013 at the Green Point Cricket Stadium in Cape Town’s city centre.  The Thai Festival was aimed at promoting Thailand, especially its culture, culinary delights and products as well as scenic beauty.  Furthermore with the support from Thai Airways International, a round trip ticket to Bangkok was given away as a grand prize to one lucky visitor who participated in the competition.  The Festival drew more than 15,000 visitors during the four day event.  As a result, it was also a great opportunity to further promote a better understanding of Thailand to the people of South Africa as well as people from other countries.
