On 31 August 2016, H.E. Dr. Pornchai Danvivathana, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of South Africa, hosted a luncheon in honour of Dr. Rose Jaela Ndlovu, recipient of the Princess Srinagarindra Award in the year 2015. The luncheon was attended by the Ambassador of Zimbabwe, as well as Ambassadors from various African countries accredited to South Africa.
The Princess Srinagarindra Award, under the Royal Patronage, was established in 2000 to commemorate the Centenary Birthday Anniversary of Her Royal Highness the Late Princess Srinagarindra Mahidol in recognition of her exemplary contribution toward progress and advancement in the field of Nursing and Social Services. Princess Srinagarindra Award is conferred annually upon nurse or midwives from all around the world who have made significant contribution, through direct care, research, education or management, for the development of the nursing or midwifery profession.
Dr. Rose Jaela Ndlovu, a nurse-midwife from Zimbabwe, was among the two recipients who received the Princess Srinagarindra Award from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in October 2015. Dr. Rose has made significant contributions to the development and advancement of nursing and midwifery services by establishing formal education course in Nursery and Midwifery in Zimbabwe and setting standard and guidelines to improve the quality and services of nursing and midwifery in East, Central, and Southern Africa, which contributed to the improved quality of lives for many in the region.
