On the anniversary of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Rambhai Barni, Queen Consort of His Majesty King Prajadhipok (Rama VII), on 22 May 2026, and on the occasion of UNESCO's commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Her Majesty’s distinguished contributions, the Royal Thai Embassy in Pretoria held a Buddhist chanting ceremony at the Embassy to dedicate merit in remembrance of Her Majesty.

H.E. Mr. Ekapol Poolpipat, Ambassador of Thailand to South Africa, together with officials of Team Thailand, attended the ceremony. Buddhist monks from Wat Phra Dhammakaya Johannesburg were invited to preside over the chanting ceremony in remembrance of the gracious benevolence of Her Majesty Queen Rambhai Barni, whose royal initiatives and devoted service rendered lasting benefits to the nation and people of Thailand, particularly in the areas of education, and sustainable social development.
